There is an increased police presence in Carbonear this evening as RCMP conduct an operation in Gilmour Place in the town.
RCMP do not believe there is an immediate threat to the general public, however, residents are being asked to avoid the area for the time being.
Police are asking people not to post images, video or information about police activities in the area for safety reasons.
