The family of a young man who testified against Tony Humby has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the RNC, NLHS, the Department of Health and a group home for failing to disclose information they had about the risk Humby posed to youth, and failing to follow-up on that information.
The lawsuit alleges that the agencies involved “ought to have known” that the young man in question was being exploited and that the exploitation was worsening his addictions issues, and led to his psychological deterioration and self-destructive behavior.
Shortly after testifying, he suffered a drug overdose, and died in hospital. The lawsuit claims that prior to his loss of consciousness, he “made statements concerning the abuse perpetrated by Humby.”
The lawsuit was filed in Supreme Court on June 1st, no defences have been filed to date.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
