Police are looking for help in getting to the bottom of a random robbery on a walking trail in Mount Pearl Friday morning.
A woman who was on the Admiralty Walking Trail told the RNC that she was approached by a male who she did not know. He flashed a weapon and attempted to take her belongings before fleeing in the direction of Richard Nolan Drive.
The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Police unleashed a dragnet, bringing in the dog, a drone operator, officers on all-terrain vehicles and municipal enforcement officers.
The robber, who has not yet been located, is described as being thin, tall and a Caucasian who was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
RNC are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area between 9:00 am and 10:00 am and who may have information. They can be reached at 709-729-8000.
RNC Cst. Steph Myers says they will have a greater focus on the area than normal throughout the weekend as people are likely to be on edge.
The city says violence of any kind has no place in the community.
Mount Pearl says it is concerned and that it remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for all residents through ongoing expenditures on lighting and trail upgrades to ensure the network continues to be safe and accessible.
