RCMP have reopened one lane of the Trans-Canada Highway near Hillview following the earlier closure.
Alternating traffic is now moving through the collision scene, but motorists are being urged to proceed with extra caution. Police say the road surface may be slick, while emergency responders, tow operators and investigators remain on scene.
Drivers are asked to slow down, follow directions from first responders and traffic control personnel, and be prepared for delays as work continues in the area.

RCMP have provided an update on the highway closure near Hillview.
The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed in both directions near Hillview as the roadway remains impassable.
Police say there is still no detour and motorists should avoid the area if at all possible.
RCMP are asking the public not to call local detachments, police non-emergency lines or 911 for updates on the closure, as those calls tie up emergency resources needed to respond to active incidents.

RCMP have an update on that accident in the area of Deep Bight and Hillview on the TCH. The highway remains closed in both directions and will be closed for a several more hours.
Both lanes of the TCH near Hillview just south of the turn-off to Route 205 are closed as first responders are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision.
RCMP Clarenville are telling people to avoid the area if at all possible as there is no detour.
