Dozens of vats of fish sauce left to molder in an abandoned and dilapidated fish plant are finally on their way out of St. Mary’s – bound for the landfill site in Sunnyside.
The product, which has been sitting in the old plant for decades finally started being removed this morning, and Mayor Steve Ryan couldn’t be happier.
He told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan that they were relieved to learn that the sauce is largely solidified.
“They broke one tank yesterday and they ran into a solid product, which is a bonus. We still have 109 or 110 approximately to go, and the more solids we get, the easier this project will be…and the cost will be a lot less.”
