A global player in freight forwarding and logistics is looking to expand its footprint in Newfoundland and Labrador, citing opportunities arising from the Bay du Nord project and Churchill Falls agreement.
The Port of Singapore Authority acquired BDP in 2022 to become PSA BDP – operating some 150 offices globally in freight boarding, logistics, customs brokerage and the facilitation of supply chains.
The company, which has an office in Paradise, is hoping to expand that operation by hiring locally.
The country director with PSA BDP, Jerry Hart, is from Corner Brook and says they’re eager to participate in the opportunities Newfoundland and Labrador offers.
“You’ve got Bay du Nord coming on, with Equinor and BW Offshore making investments, you know, we were talking to the Port of Botwood and looking at making partnerships with (them) with some of the wind stuff that’s happening right now.” He says the company is eager to engrain itself and make investments locally.
That includes the potential for port expansion on the ground in Newfoundland and Labrador.
“Whether that’s making investments in port infrastructure, and helping Newfoundland grow, or helping customers get products in and out of Newfoundland and taking care of some of that stuff that might be a little bit difficult for them to handle…”
PSA BDP is hiring locally and is interested in hearing from “anyone and everyone” involved in supply chain facilitation. Applicants are encouraged to reach out via email at jerry.hart@psabdp.com.
