This past summer was one of the busiest – if not the busiest – on record in terms of air traffic at St. John’s International Airport.
The final numbers aren’t in, but YYT President and CEO Dennis Hogan says some new services and the continuation of existing ones led to an active few months.
Hogan says Porter Airlines added a seasonal service to Hamilton along with the new airport in the greater Montreal region at St. Hubert.
“In addition, Flair Airlines returned this past summer with a route to Toronto, and we had the return of the European flights and WestJet did quite well on those – London-Gatwick, Dublin and Paris,” says Hogan.
Things could get even busier next summer with the introduction of a direct route between St. John’s and Newark starting in June.
