Government House Leader Lloyd Parrott tabled a copy of the cover of the new federal budget in the House of Assembly today which features a picture of Churchill Falls with the title; Masters of Our Destiny.
The provincial government has long touted that the new agreement reached with Quebec on Churchill Falls guarantees more power, more value, more transmission and more jobs.
Premier Tony Wakeham this week confirmed that the final definitive agreements on Churchill Falls will be part of a special debate in the house, members may not get to vote on them.
Technical briefings will be provided to MHAs and the agreements will be brought back to the legislature for a debate, but not a vote.
Opposition Leader John Hogan expressed doubt about who is the master of their own destiny when the budget cover was tabled today.
“I don’t know why you’re proud that the federal government is the master of our destiny here in Newfoundland and Labrador, but anyway, it’s all good.”
