The MHA for Humber-Gros Morne is weighing in on a controversy that’s come to a head in his hometown of Deer Lake.
The town council and provincial government are at odds over access to the highway from the new health clinic.
Access to the facility, which has yet to open, has been blocked off by the town in a tit-for-tat on traffic flow – what’s allowed and what’s not.

Mike Goosney, who served as mayor of Deer Lake prior to his election to the provincial government, posted a lengthy video to social media, explaining the situation and denying that it’s political in nature.
Goosney blames Mayor Dean Ball for creating the problem by allowing access to the highway through Bennett Road, even though it was never approved.
