The holiday shopping rush is upon us, and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is offering up some tips to help make sure all presents end up under the right tree.
The RNC is encouraging people to stay vigilant while out doing their Christmas shopping.
Officers recommend shopping with family or friends, but if someone must go alone, let people they trust know where they will be.
They say to park in well-lit areas, make sure vehicles are locked, and never leave valuables in plain sight. When returning to the vehicle, people should remember where they parked and have their keys at the ready.
People should also stay focused on their surroundings, be alert to any suspicious activity, and keep items like a purse or wallet closed.
If someone sees anything suspicious, it should be reported to the RNC immediately by calling (709) 729-8000.
