As AI systems become more capable, experts are beginning to ask whether the technology is moving so quickly that it could soon outpace our ability to fully understand and control it.
Tech blogger Kevin Andrews says it’s important to remember that if you “keep building faster and faster race cars, you have to spend as much time improving the brakes, as the engine.”
He doesn’t think it’s a matter of AI taking over, he just thinks the technology is advancing faster than many people realize.
“I think the bigger challenge isn’t AI turning evil, it’s insuring that humans use increasingly powerful tools responsibly,” says Andrews. “History has shown us that the best time to build guard rails is before everyone is driving 100 km/h, not after.”
