One man was arrested and charged after an armed robbery in Mobile yesterday led police on a pursuit that ended in CBS.
Ferryland RCMP were contacted about an armed robbery at a convenience store on the Southern Shore Highway in Mobile.
Two people, wearing masks, entered the store, pointed a firearm at staff and left the scene in a black Acura Integra with a small quantity of money.
Witnesses reported that the car was heading in the direction of St. John’s, and it was found abandoned a short time later in CBS.
Officers with the RNC and their police dog unit provided assistance and one suspect was tracked to a nearby property and arrested without incident.
Thirty-six-year-old Darryl McDonald is facing a list of charges including break and entry, use of a firearm in committing a robbery, pointing a firearm and disguised with intent. A full list of charges are as follows:
- Breaking and entering with intent
- Use of firearm in committing robbery
- Disguised with intent
- Pointing a firearm
- Using firearm in commission of indictable offence
- Unlawfully possessing a firearm while under prohibition – two counts
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Obstructing justice
- Failure to comply with a probation order
He was scheduled to appear in court today. A search is underway for the second suspect and police are seeking any witness information or video footage between 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. on Monday from a number of areas including Mobile, the Southern Shore Highway, Witless Bay Line, TCH, Foxtrap Access and Farmland Lane in CBS.
