The federal government is going to spend money on two key harbours on the Burin Peninsula.
It allocated close to $1-billion in last spring’s budget for improvements to small craft harbours over the next five years.
In Fortune, the breakwater will be rebuilt to help protect against severe weather and support the ferry service between Newfoundland and St. Pierre-Miquelon.
Fisheries Minister Joanne Thompson also announced funding for dredging of the harbour basin in Burin.
Both projects should be finished next year.
