Fish farming is in the spotlight over the next few days as it is “Aquaculture Week” in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The 2026 Cold Harvest Conference at the JAG Hotel in St. John’s beginning tomorrow will highlight that sector of the fishery.
The minister responsible, Loyola O’Driscoll, says aquaculture accounts for 500 direct jobs and generated over $453-million last year- the highest economic value in the history of the sector.
A wide range of topics will be covered during the three-day conference with the keynote address from the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.
