Newfoundland Power is at the ready to respond as a significant wind storm takes aim at the island.
There are wind warnings out for about half of the island, including the Avalon, Bonavista and Northern Peninsulas, as well as parts of central. There is a special weather statement in effect for the metro region.
Peak gusts could be over 100 km/h late tonight and tomorrow.
Director of Stakeholder Relations and Communications Glenda Power says Newfoundland Power is monitoring the wind conditions very closely.
She says they have crews right across the province who are used to working in tough conditions, and they will be at the ready if an outage occurs.
