The President and CEO of North Atlantic is calling recent meetings in France “very productive.”
The St. John’s-based company, which has established an office in Paris,
recently acquired the second-largest oil refinery in France from ExxonMobil.

The Gravenchon facility has the capacity to process 230,000 barrels per day of crude oil and other feedstocks. The facility employs some 2,000 people.
North Atlantic’s Ted Lomond says he had a chance to meet with government and industry leaders in France, and discuss energy opportunities.
Lomond says they’re pleased with operations in Europe to date.
He says the French government is very easy to deal with. “The acquisition has….been successful. We’re happy with our move into France.”

Prime Minister Mark Carney recently met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Saint Pierre et Miquelon just off the coast of the Burin Peninsula as Canada makes moves to build greater trade relationships with Europe.
Lomond says North Atlantic has had a long relationship with France going back many years. He commends the Prime Minister’s efforts in fostering greater collaboration.
“I think these things are very positive,” says Lomond.
