A local filmmaker says the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is a big opportunity for people like her to debut her work.
Lisah Nsanzugwanko produced a short documentary dubbed “Love Is In The Hair,” a short documentary about a black hairstylist named Caiti who lives in Hearts Delight.
The 37th annual film festival kicks off next week in and around St. John’s.
She says it’s going to be emotional to see her film on the big screen at the Majestic.
“I know it’s going to be super emotional. I know it’s also going to be a moment of gratitude for everyone who took part.”
“I’ve known I wanted to make a film for a while because I knew that I really wanted to have a career in the industry, but I really saw an opportunity when the Picture NL Empowerment Program reached out to me. They wanted to try out a documentary and see how it went.”
