Newfoundland and Labrador may be the only province in the country without a destination casino, but the Atlantic Lottery Corporation would be willing to entertain the motion should government wish to do so.
A new book which looks at what the author concludes is the escalation of gambling also found that all other sub-jurisdictions have physical sites for spins and the like, but not Newfoundland and Labrador.
Corporation CEO Dallas McCready says current legislation does not allow such an establishment.
“We work with government all the time on different policy decisions and, historically, Newfoundland and Labrador has chosen not to have a destination but if they were to choose that model, we would be happy to partner with them. But, ultimately, that’s a decision for government to make,” says McCready.
