Our heads are going to be in a spin trying to keep the clocks straight come the spring as yet another province – this one as close to home as it gets – plans to get rid of Daylight Saving Time.
British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba have already done so, and now the Parti Quebecois plans to stick with Standard time year-round.
Newfoundland and Labrador has shown no interest in even considering going down that path.
That means we could see a situation where the island of Newfoundland and a small part of Labrador would be separated by 2.5 hours, and most of Labrador and Quebec by two hours.
Daylight Saving Time was adopted in Canada during WWI to reduce coal and oil consumption.
