The organization behind a new childcare centre on Stavanger Drive, which will be targeted at healthcare workers, says there are still a lot of detail that needs to be worked out.
The daycare, which will be inside the Unity Health Centre, will have space for 72 children and be operated by the YWCA.
Executive director Maria Gentle says they will be speaking with government to determine when the centre will open, what its hours will be, and how exactly applicants will be prioritized.
She says “a lot” needs to happen between now and when the centre does open, including renovations to the space. She says they will be working towards “swift movement” on the file.
Education Critic Bernard Davis says he’s excited for the new facility to open up. He says it is a “good day” whenever new childcare spaces are created for families.
