Energy Minister Lloyd Parrott believes the province will be able to meet the workforce needs of a booming energy and mining sector.
Parrott attended the annual Baie Verte Mining Conference over the weekend.
Bay du Nord and numerous mining projects are on the horizon leading to questions about whether or not Newfoundland and Labrador has a big enough skilled workforce to meet future labour needs.
He says “once the jobs come, the people will come along with it.”
“We’ve proven it time and time again,” says Parrott. “We went through a phase where we were doing Hebron, Voisey’s Bay, Muskrat Falls, and Long Harbour, all at the same time, and back then they said we’d never find the people to do the work, and we found the people to do the work, with very few fly-in, fly-out.”
